Gombak
The Gombak
District is an administrative district located in the state
of Selangor, Malaysia. The district was created on February 1, 1974, the
same day when Kuala Lumpur was declared a Federal Territory. Gombak borders Kuala
Lumpur to the southeast and the Genting Highlands to the east. Both Gombak
and Kuala Lumpur, along with some other districts in Selangor, are situated
within the Klang Valley. Other localities that are situated
in Gombak district include Batu Arang, Kuang, Rawang, Bandar Kundang, GombakTown, Selayang, Kepong and Hulu Kelang. Gombak is also home to an
aboriginal Orang Asli settlement, and it is the site
of the Orang Asli Museum. Gombak River merges with the larger Klang River in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting
place of the two rivers is the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur. At the center of the
confluence is the Masjid Jamek. The International Islamic University
Malaysia (IIUM/UIAM) main campus is also located here as well
as the Batu Caves.
Gombak has a large amount of recreational area and tourist attraction.

The National Zoo is a zoo in Malaysia located on
110 acres of land in Ulu Klang, Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia The
National Zoo in Hulu Klang has a fascinating animal collection from all over
the world, as well as an impressive aquarium and aviary. It is considered one
of the most interesting zoos in South East Asia, with large grounds for picnic,
enormous lake for `swan boating' and train rides around the zoo.

Hutan Lipur Templer is a forest reserve in Rawang, Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. Templer's
Park is a lush forest park with cascading waterfalls and rivers meandering
through it. This forest reserve consists of multi-tiered waterfalls, jungle
streams and trails. Several amenities are available in this forest reserve,
such as picnic grounds, fishing spots, parking lots, public toilets and stalls.

Wildlife that can be spotted in Templer's Park
include the park monkey, hawk-cuckoo, crested serpent eagle, emerald dove, forest wagtail, malkohas, barbet, woodpecker, flycatcher-shrike, blue-winged leafbird, earless agamid, Malaysian crested lizard, various kinds of toads and snakes and serow
(goat-antelopes). Studies by Malaysian Nature Society have confirmed that there
is still a population of serow living in the vicinity. The cave, Gua Anak
Takun, is home to a rare species of trapdoor spider, Liphistius
batuensis. This park is also ideal for picnics and visitors could take
the opportunity to dip in the cool, refreshing water.

The Orang Asli Museum is a museum in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia that showcases the history and tradition of the indigenous Orang Asli people. Situated at Km 24, Jalan Gombak, visitors can have an insightful glimpse into the lifestyle and culture of Selangor's "Original People" or orang asli that is fast disappearing with development and modernisation. The museum consists of a permanent exhibition gallery, a mini theatre hall equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual system, a library and a souvenir shop. Artefacts on exhibition at the museum include hunting equipment, traditional musical instruments as well as personal ornaments and garments It has a vast collection of tribal heritage such as blowpipes, spears, porcelain and ancestral figurines.

Temple

Located 15 km north of Kuala Lumpur,
Batu Caves is a mukim and town in Gombak District and the most popular
tourist destination in Selangor. Batu
Caves is the location of the famous Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Lord
Murugan which attracts thousands of devotees as well as tourists every year.
During major festivals, the place becomes amazingly lively and colourful with
many devotees performing traditional rites like carrying the kavadi and milk
jars during Thaipusam. It
consists of three big caves and the main temple cave, which features ornate
Hindu shrines and has a ceiling looming over 100 metres overhead. To reach it
one must climb a steep flight of 272 steps, a feat performed by as many as
100,000 devotees during the annual Thaipusam festival.
Bukit Tabur
Bukit Tabur is a ridge
located in Hulu Gombak Forest Reserve, Selangor, Malaysia. It is also known
locally as Bukit Hangus, Dragon's Back and Crystal Hill It is a state forest reserve where you could
view Klang gate dam from the peak. The trail is not so hard except
for a strech of rocky climb towards the top of the hill. There is a
spectacular view of the dam if the weather is clear really it worth the
climb. Bukit Tabur is divided into the eastern and western section by the
dam, with four discrete trails: Bukit Tabur West, Bukit Tabur East, Bukit
Tabur Far East and Bukit Tabur Extreme. There has been a series of
accidents on the trail including several fatal mishaps. As a result, the
trail has been closed at times by the Selangor Forestry Department.
You can get to Bukit Tabur by Bus,
Metro or Light Rail. These are the lines and routes that have stops nearby.

Gombak is district with a large amount of recreational area

trekking, hiking, swimming in the waterfall, picnic and many more. Gombak
is a located close to many popular shopping scenes and close to malls such as
Wangsa Walk Mall, Selayang Mall and M3 Shopping Mall. There are entertainments
such as movie theatres, arcades, bowling alley and restaurants that one can
enjoy in the shopping mall. There are also wide options of hospitals in Gombak for
those in need of medical attention. The closes hospitals are Selayang Hospital,
Gombak Aborigines Hospital, Damai Service Hospital (Melawati), Klinik Rakway 1
Malaysia and PoliKlinik MUC, Bukit Bintang. Gombak is an
ideal location for families to settle down. There is an adequate amount of
education facilities in the surrounding of Gombak. Parents can choose from the
multiple choices of schools available in the area. International schools such
as IIUM Schools Sdn Bhd, International Islamic School Malaysia and Setiabudi
School (Primary & Secondary) are some of the international schooling
options
